Dougherty + Dougherty: Intersections, Architecture and Social Responsibility

Images Publishing

  • Architects Betsy Dougherty, FAIA, and Brian Dougherty, FAIA, are as active in the community as they are in architecture.

Their Orange County-based practice Dougherty + Dougherty was founded in 1979, and quickly became a pioneer in the implementation of socially responsible and regenerative design strategies. The firm has maintained its dedication to the design of technologically advanced, environmentally responsive facilities that lift the spirit and inspire their communities.

This new book looks exclusively at the firms portfolio of work, which includes projects for child development, education (from K12 to college and university projects), government, private residences and interiors.

Betsey Dougherty served in 2007 as Chancellor of the AIA College of Fellows, and had served previously as Secretary and Regional Director to the AIA National Board of Directors.

Brian Dougherty is well known for his work as Board Member of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and as Chair of the AIA National Ethics Council.
