About the Author

ArquitectonicaGEO, founded by Laurinda Spear and Margarita Blanco in 2005, is a global design firm specializing in landscape architecture, planning, and urban design. Creating functional, resilient, and enriching environments, the firm focuses on enhancing people’s quality of life by developing vibrant spaces that preserve the natural environment and promote sustainable living. ArquitectonicaGEO’s philosophy is driven by the desire to design places that generate memorable experiences and respect human, community, and environmental connections. It has offices in Miami, Florida; Bogotá, Colombia; and Málaga, Spain.
Beth Dunlop pioneered architectural criticism in South Florida and was the award-winning architecture critic of the Miami Herald for more than three decades. She has written, co-authored, or contributed to more than forty books about architecture, historic preservation, landscape, and design, including the first two monographs on Arquitectonica. Her most recent book is Gardens for Modern Houses: Design Inspirations for Home Landscapes (2025), and her next book will examine the trajectory of American architecture, money, and taste as exemplified by a single street in Miami Beach. Beth was editor-in-chief of the architecture and design magazines HOME Miami, HOME Fort Lauderdale, the online-only HOME Los Angeles, and Modern Magazine. She has contributed to newspapers and magazines around the globe and was a contributing editor for Architectural Record.
