Full Description

China’s rapid urbanization has been triggering an unprecedented construction boom since the 1990s. While the early phase of urban construction was marked mainly by its extensiveness, modern-day requirements of a highly commerce-oriented society, as well as the ever-changing utilization of space in the Digital Age have created a concern for quality and renewed the recognition of it. Against this backdrop, Shaping Changes presents sixteen projects by line+ studio, a design studio founded by two young Chinese architects, Meng Fanhao and Zhu Peidong. This monograph brings to the fore the studio’s pursuit of design quality through works that range from rural revitalization projects to high-tech headquarters, to education campuses and cultural facilities. The diversity and design quality of the creations by line+ studio are highly respected and sought after, as evidenced by the practice’s participation in the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, 2021, at Arsenale, Venice, Italy, themed How Will We Live Together?, as well as the studio’s recent commissions for several overseas projects, which are also presented within this volume.
